5 Reasons to Purchase Property in Atlanta

Atlanta was hard hit by the economic crisis in 2008, but its recent turnaround has made the city a hot real estate market. There are many promising signs that point to a good investment, such as the growing economy, increasing population and busy travel hubs. For those looking to make the best bang for their buck, there is no better place to start than Atlanta.

Georgia’s capital city is generally split along areas to the North, West, East and South. The neighborhoods just North of the city of Atlanta are referred to collectively as Buckhead. When looking at a map, the area starts just north of where Interstate 75 and 85 split. Buckhead was originally a vacation destination for wealthier Americans in the 1800s. It has since expanded to include prominent businesses, a busy nightlife scene and a variety of shopping options. Atlanta holds something for everyone and while the list of reasons to move to the area is endless, we’ve shared the top 5 reasons that it’s the perfect place for you to live.

1. The Ease of Traveling

Buckhead benefits from many of the aspects that make Atlanta a great city to buy property in general. It is a major railroad hub, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. Not to mention the city has access to major interstate highways such as the Interstate 20, Interstate 75 and Interstate 85, so getting around is not a problem.

2. Job Opportunity

Atlanta is home to several Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola, Home Depot and AT&T, all of which bring jobs to residents. New projects and a stronger economy have lead to jobs opening up in all spectrums of the workforce. The city is also home to a growing tech sector, with many nicknaming it as the Silicon Peach. SunTrust Park was just completed, which brought a lot of opportunities in construction, and Mercedes-Benz will open a new $93 million headquarters in early 2018. If you aren’t moving for work, you’ll have no problem finding a job in this growing city.

 3. Hot Real Estate Market

As for homeowners, home values have managed to stay low. This fact, combined with a projected population growth of 7.3 million in 2020, means a lot of potential for future renters and buyers to enter the area. Buckhead real estate is just as sought after today as it was in the 1800s. Homes, condos and apartments are all in demand, leading to real estate holding its value over time.

 4. Attractions and Activities

With all the outdoors activities and nearby amenities, it is hard to have a slow day in Chastain Park. The neighborhood shares its name with the nearby 268-acre park that is the largest in Atlanta. For outdoor-lovers Chastain Park is a great place to live. The park has a swimming pool, golf course, walking trails and a horse park. Chastain Park also hosts concerts by a variety of artists in a large amphitheater. Upcoming acts range from Willie Nelson to Evanescence. The neighborhood civic association is very active, and volunteers work to organize the annual 4th of July Parade.

 5. Neighborhood hot-spots

The way Atlanta is layed out allows for each neighborhood to hold a unique charm. Many have a variety of things to do and you’ll be sure to find the perfect neighborhood to call home. Neighborhoods to explore within Buckhead include Chastain Park, Vinings, Peachtree Park and Brookwood Hills.

Buckhead is popular among young people in the evenings to sip martinis or dance the night away. No matter if you’re looking for a ritsy, late-night experience, or a casual, inexpensive dinner, you’ll be sure to find something to do in the area.

Peachtree Park is a historic area of Brookhaven, and it has secured a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Architecture styles range from 1921-1957. Home designs include Colonial Revival, Craftsman and English Vernacular Revival. The area is very pedestrian friendly, with no cars allowed in areas the connect Peachtree Street to Lenox Square Mall. The mall is a major shopping hub of Atlanta, and it has more than 1.5 million square feet of retail space. The mall has four levels to explore and a food court inside. Big name stores include Adidas, Lacoste and Neiman Marcus.

Vinings is a quaint village community that hugs the Chattahoochee River. This area is also perfect for people who love the outdoors, as there are many walking trails nearby. The neighborhood also hosts a variety of festivals and outdoors farmer’s markets. The neighborhood is a mix between old a new, with older renovated homes available as well as townhomes and condos. This area has great dining options, such as Canoe Restaurant, Noche and Another Broken Egg Cafe. People can experience all the different flavors Vinings has to offer during Brookhaven Restaurant Week.

Brookwood Hills is a picturesque neighborhood with homes that date back to the 1920s. It’s located just north of Midtown, Atlanta and it hugs Peachtree Road. The pool is a popular hotspot in the area, and many area kids compete on the local swim team. Swimming season always ends with a fun and furry dog swim, where residents bring their pups to cool off after a long, hot summer. Other amenities include various art galleries, a tennis facility and a nearby park.

Atlanta residents looking for a quick getaway head to the nearby Lake Lanier Islands. This area has a golf course, beach access and the family-friendly LanierWorld waterpark. Kids can run and jump through the park’s wave pool, 11 water slides and Raging River. The Legacy Lodge & Conference Center on the islands recently underwent $2 million in renovations. Now people can rent rooms with hardwood floors while they enjoy the view of the annual Independence Day Fireworks show on the lake.

No matter what reason you’re considering a move to Atlanta, the city holds something for everyone. Each neighborhood attracts individuals and families alike, and you’ll be sure to find a hidden gem around every corner.
